From humble origins in Detroit, raised on a healthy diet of Motown, Jazz, and Early Hip‐Hop – Terrel Wallace (aka Tall Black Guy) has been consistently building a massive online following through a steady stream of productions filled with incredibly clever sample flips and deft production chops ‐ being championed by the likes of Gilles Peterson (who included him on the latest Brownswood Bubblers 7... album), Lefto, Anthony Valadez, and countless others ‐ as well as recently being named the winner of the Robert Glasper Remix competition. With the tangible beginnings of worldwide recognition, Tall Black Guy has established himself to be one of the most influential producers from Chicago.
2011-2012 has seen TBG's first vinyl releases with bstrd boots, First Word Records and his own imprint Tall Black Guy Productions. Plus projects with artists like: 80s Babies, The Primeridian, Malice & Mario Sweet, DJ Vadim and The Electric, Maylee Todd, Temika Moore, Teri Tobin, Skyzoo, The Colman Brothers, Cilla K and Shev Rock.
From 2013, the Worldwide Festival team look forward to welcoming you on the slopes of Leysin in Switzerland for a brand new winter edition of the WF! But you can already have a taste of this new WF experience on the 1st of March 2012. We invite you to join us for a WF Sessions with Gilles Peterson, Dimlite, Garfld and Simbad for the opening of the Nescafé Champs, the oldest freestyle snowboard competition in Europe . You are used to dancing in the sand, well… get ready to dance in the snow. And if you miss the beach, simply cross the border and take a look at the “Mer de Glace”. For those who are sensitive to the cold, Gilles and the WF gang will make sure to raise the temperature a few degrees for this first Helvetic rendez-vous.
